At Level 4 & 5 you should be able to identify and use relevant understanding, methods and skills to address broadly-defined, complex problems. It includes taking responsibility for planning and developing courses of action for yourself and others. You also need to understand different perspectives, approaches or schools of thought and the reasoning behind them.
What does the qualification cover?
This qualification provides learners with the skills and knowledge needed to manage practice and lead others in children’s care, learning and development.
It covers a wide range of subjects, including: leading professional practice, health and safety and risk management, safeguarding and developing professional supervision practice.
Who is it suitable for?
This qualification is suitable for Assistant Managers and Deputy Managers working in children’s care, learning and development who are looking to progress their career.
It is also appropriate for Managers who have not yet achieved a vocational qualification at this level.
What are the entry requirements?
You should be at least 19 years old. Colleges or training providers may have their own guidelines.
How many credits are required to complete it?
The Diploma requires 90 credits.
How is it assessed?
It will be assessed by your tutor or assessor using a range of methods. This could include a portfolio of evidence, written assignments, coursework and direct observation of practice.
Do you need to be working to take the qualification?
Yes, you will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement as you need to show competence in both knowledge and skills.
How long does it take to complete?
You can usually complete it within 12-18months.
