What happens once I register with Sure Start?

Families are sent a letter of acknowledgment and a copy of the quarterly newsletter.  Staff meet weekly to go through the referral register and families are allocated to the staff member most appropriate for the service/s required, so for example if the referral is made on behalf of an ante natal mum, the Surestart Midwife is given this referral and she will make the initial contact with the family to discuss the referral and registration if this is what the family requires.  Registrations are usually done at home visits but we can do this at other venues if this is more suitable for the family.  This is a further opportunity to discuss the family’s needs and gather information so that the most suitable servicers are offered to the family.  A family pathway is initially agreed at this meeting, this will reflect the family’s journey through Surestart.

Comments from families on Sure Start:

‘Once again another amazing event from Surestart. The advice and support from the Health Visitor and Midwife has been invaluable to me during my pregnancy and when my baby was born.  You put my mind at rest and gave me the reassurance that I needed.  It was great that I could come to your drop-ins as and when I needed and no appointment was necessary, thank you this made such a difference to me and my baby’  Welcome New Baby Event/Ante natal drop-in clinic and Baby drop-in’
