What does the qualification cover?

This qualification provides the in-depth information about the role of the Level 5 playworker when working with children and young people between the ages of 4 to 16. It also delivers the higher level knowledge and skills needed when leading practice and managing staff in a playwork setting. This includes developing professional practices, building relationships and personal development.

Playworkers who have a wide knowledge and understanding of children and young people and a deep appreciation of playwork principles and practice.


What are the entry requirements?

You should be at least 18 years old. Colleges or training providers may have their own guidelines.


How many credits are required to complete it?

The Diploma requires 60 credits.


How is it assessed?

It will be assessed by your tutor or assessor using a range of methods. This could include, direct observation in the workplace, expert witness evidence, written assignments and reflection on your own practice.


Do you need to be working to take the qualification?

Yes, you will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement as you need to show competence in both knowledge and skills.


How long does it take to complete?

You can usually complete between 12- 18 months .
