Funding for Children with a Disability

The Childcare Partnerships, in association with the Department of Health Social Services and Public Safety, were awarded funding in 2013-14 through the Northern Ireland Executive Programme for Affordable Integrated Childcare – Bright Start. This funding has been used to support the integration of children with disabilities into mainstreamed registered childcare provision enabling parents /carers to return to work training or employment.

This pilot programme included a number of initiatives:

  • Small Grants Scheme
  • Holiday Grant Scheme
  • General Disability Awareness Raising Training Programme – click on the training and quality tab to access the Childcare Partnership training programme.

  • Peripatetic Support – a number of organisations have been offered funding to provide one to one support for children with a disability.

This funding is non-recurrent.  Initiatives funded in 2013/14 will be fully evaluated to inform the future delivery of services for children with a disability.
