Council Areas

The Northern Childcare Partnership covers ten council areas – Antrim, Ballymena, Ballymoney, Carrickfergus, Coleraine, Cookstown, Larne, Magherafelt, Moyle and Newtownabbey and services a total population of 465,529.

Services / Description of Sector

  • Strategic development of Sure Start Projects
  • Allocation of funding, including capital funding, to Early Years sector
  • Support to Early Years sector with training and quality and information
  • Promoting of Childcare and Early Years provision to parents

Causeway Early Years Fora

The Causeway Early Years Forum is a multi-agency group that works together to:

  • Ensure that families have access to information on local early years and childcare services
  • Identify gaps in childcare provision
  • Raise the quality of early years and childcare provision by sharing good practice models
  • Inform the Northern Childcare Partnership about emerging needs within local communities
  • Prevent duplication of services
  • Promote and support diversity and inclusion

The Forum meets four times a year and has a small budget to deliver services based on identified need, including the provision of early years/childcare resources, training, and facilitating local information sessions and development opportunities for childcare practitioners, children and families.
